In Washington, D.C., it is considered "job creation" when the government hires 16,000 new IRS agents to administer the Democrat healthcare reform plan. Like most Georgians, Jason Shepherd believes that people create jobs, not the government. While he calls himself a tax-cutting conservative, the Democrat incumbent has opposed tax relief for Cobb County homeowners, including voting against legislation that would have raised the homestead exemption from $2,000 to $4,000 by 2011 (SB 83). We need a Representative who will fight for tax relief for Cobb families and businesses, not one who only says he will. He will also continue to work for lower taxes to keep more money in the hands of consumers and allow for businesses to use that money to invest in growth. Government may not create jobs, but it can foster an environment that will allow people and employers to invest in new job creation in Cobb County and across our state. Jason Shepherd is the only candidate in this race who has joined other Georgia Republicans and Democratswho have signed Americans for Tax Reform's Taxpayer Protection Pledge promising to never vote to raise taxes in Georgia.
