Ehrhart, Evans, Olens and Rogers Among Early Endorsements for Shepherd for State House

Georgia’s Leadership Backs “Shep for Rep”

(Marietta) — Cobb Commission Chairman Sam Olens, Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers, House Rules Chairman Earl Ehrhart and former Georgia Republican Party General Counsel J. Randolph “Randy” Evans are backing Jason Shepherd in his campaign for State House District 37 in West Cobb.

“Jason Shepherd’s dedication to less government and conservative principles will make him a strong addition to Cobb County’s legislative delegation,” said Chairman Ehrhart. “

“We are facing many challenges in our district,” said Shepherd. “It’s time we had a representative with a bold vision to meet those challenges with practical solutions; a representative who will fight for our community in Atlanta; a representative who has the experience to deliver for our families.”

Cobb County’s leaders aren’t the only ones getting involved in the District 37 race. A number of elected officials from outside of Cobb County have also endorsed Shepherd including Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine, State Senators Jeff Mullis (Chickamauga) and Ralph Hudgens (Hull), State Representatives Stephen Allison (Blairsville), Doug Collins (Gainesville), Jill Chambers (Chamblee), Mike Coan (Lawrenceville), Brooks Coleman (Duluth), Mike Jacobs (Atlanta), Sean Jerguson (Canton), John Lunsford (McDonough), and Public Service Commissioner Chuck Eaton (Atlanta).

Shepherd also received recognition from Americans for Prosperity, a nationwide organization of citizen leaders committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. He was recognized for joining nearly 300 politicians on all government levels in signing the “no climate tax” pledge.

Other prominent Georgians who have signed the pledge include U.S. Reps. Phil Gingrey, Tom Price, Paul Broun, and Lynn Westmoreland; and gubernatorial candidates John Oxendine and Eric Johnson.

Jason Shepherd, a former political aide to House Speaker Newt Gingrich, has been actively involved in the Cobb County community for 11 years. A graduate of the University of Georgia, Jason is an independent public relations and technology consultant. He is currently working on completing his juris doctorate degree at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Jason and his wife Manuela have been married for five years.
